Joachim's Apron
My latest finished project and it's not knitting! A while ago I made my brother Hector an apron. I had to twist his arm to make him something. He always claims he does not WANT or NEED anything so my gifting options are limited. This time I pushed hard and in the end he gave in and requested an apron. That he uses everyday! And it gets better. His wee son Joachim was so fascinated by the apron that my sister-in-law Sarah asked if I could make a mini version just for him.
What is it now, a year later. No matter, finally said apron is done and and will be shipped off tomorrow. I used the same fabric plus a Lady Bug accent which I hope will reignite Joachim's Lady Bug craze.
I think it's cruel to deny your crafty sibling the opportunity to shower you with handmade lovelies. Unless of course he thinks my handmade lovelies are crummy....
Nah! He would have told me by now.

Jim's Christmas Socks
Regia plus Cotton - buy it immediately! It's the best sock yarn I've ever used. Machine washable, non-felting, high moisture absorption. And the color is really beautiful. You can't see it in the photo but that's actually two shades of rich navy blue. I used #1 Addis and Cat Bordhi's Simple Sock pattern from Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles. I was knitting them on the sly until Jim looked up at me one evening and asked, "Are you keeping anything from me?" He caught me so off guard I confessed on the spot, "Yes! Here they are! I've been keeping them from you. Surprise! A pair of Christmas socks! Now you know."
I don't know what's scarier, that he knows me so well or that I cave in so easily.
This is Jim's third pair. The first were "too thick", the second were "too loose". I'm happy to report that these are just right. Which is a good thing too because they would have been his last.
Here's to my sweetie.
P.S. Cat has a great technique for eliminating the first row jog AND those two holes on either side of the first gusset row. You know which ones I'm talking about.

Hat for Rachel
First gift of the year! This is Rachel. As per her request - "there's a hole on the top of my hat" - I added a pom pom. She says it fits beautifully and that she can wear it everywhere, but will not get it dirty like some of the hats that she sometimes leaves outdoors.
